 Sarbjit Cheema is a Punjabi singer.Popularly known as Cheema. After compliting his graduation Sarbjit went to Canada.Before At school he was a captain of his hockey team.For higher studies Cheema joined Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar. He joined the bhangra team of the college and won several prizes at College level, University level and Punjab level.He never knew he would sing. Not as a kid when he spent the evenings with his father and grandfather listening to the folk singers gathered at their village open during “khed melas”.But Since the time the truth revealed itself to him through his ustad; puritan, culture lover, man of the masses Sarabjit Cheema has enjoyed every moment of the role.In college, he joined the bhangra team and for five years he participated in competitions winning accolades as the best dancer during many fests.It was here that a singer for the club, Balraj Singh Bassi, listened to him. “Bhangra and singing had never been more earlier but the ustad expressed faith in Cheema.

As his grooving and melodious voice reverbrated against the decked out walls of the store.As the evening progressed, he sang, `Ni aaja nach le’ and `Billo teri tor vekh ke’ on the demand by youngsters.His most successful album was “Chandigarh Shaher Di Kuddi” that rocked the youngsters.With every album cheema has proved his melodious voice in Punjab.He has maked rocked with Boliyan and Gidha Beats.His smash hit Punjabi song Rangla Punjab from his album Mela Vekhdiye Mutiyare was released in 1996. His hits are billo teri tor vekh ke,Dhol Vajda, Rang rara riri rara, Bhangra, Nacho-Nacho, Khatta Doria, Chandigarh Shehar di kudi,Boliyan.Many Times His albums music was produced my musician Sukhpal Sukh and Atul Sharma.Now he is working with musician Aman Hayer. Born and raised in village Boorchand Amritsar, Punjab, Amrinder Gill's breakthrough track was “Paigam”, being followed by hits such as “Daru”, “Madhaania”, “Khedan De Din” with Sunidhi Chauhan, and also “Mail Kara de ” and “Dildarian”.

He earned a Master's degree in agricultural science.

Harbhajan Mann ( ਹਰਭਜਨ ਮਾਨ) is a Punjabi singer and actor. Although not known much for his singing he soon became a Punjabi all rounder star in the entertainment industry. He got spotlight in Punjabi music industry with his astonishing performance and miraculous voice in "Husn Jawani". When he became "Inder" in "Jee Aayan Nu" in 2002 and his success in "Asa Nu Mann Watna Da" stamped him with a label of star in the Punjabi movie world, and his recent movies like Heer ranjha and Jag Jeondeyan De Mele are one of the few blockbusters of Punjabi cinema. He is a student of Pakistani Punjabi folk singer Shaukat Ali.

 

 

                   Career

Harbhajan Mann began singing as an amateur in 1980 and performed in local shows for the South Asian community while attending high school in Canada. His aspirations to sing professionally were sparked when he studied music from his first guru, Karnail Singh.

His first professional break came to him in 1992 while he was still in Canada with the release of Chithiye Nee Chithiye. This track became a success with the target audiences in Punjab. After the success of the single Chithiye Nee Chithiye in India, Harbhajan realized that the industry for Punjabi music was too limited in Canada. Harbhajan returned to Punjab to record his albums. Harbhajan's melodious voice was still relatively undiscovered until 1999. With the help of India MTV and some extra promotions from T-Series, Mann's 1999 album, "Oye Hoye", became an explosive hit. His Punjabi-pop style soon attracted audiences from all over India. Singing was not only a Passion inside him but he started giving his voice to the actors as he turned into a Playback Singer and an Actor. Harbhajan Mann has become a prominent figure in the revitalisation of Punjabi cinema. He has starred and produced in seven movies, namely "Ji Aayan Nu", "Asa Nu Mann Watna Da", "Dil Apna Punjabi", "Mitti Wajaan Mardi", "Mera Pind, My home", "Jag Jeondiyan De Mele" and his most recent movie "Heer Ranjha". He has also produced the soundtrack albums for his movies.

   Diljit Dosanjh debuted with his album Ishq Da Uda Ada. It was released by T-Series. He has come out with 6 albums so far.His most successful album, The Next Level is also his most recent.

Diljit made his acting debut in the Punjabi action flick, The Lion of Punjab which opened to negative reviews from critics, though managed to end up successful at the box office. In 2011, he starred in the critically acclaimed Jihne Mera Dil Luteya which turned out to be a critical and commercial blockbuster hit. Critics also praised Diljit's comic performance in the film. In 2012, he begins the year with Hindi romance film Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya, in which he appears in a guest appearance through the song "Pee Pa Pee Pa" which is also sung by Diljit himself. The film is expected to hit theatres on 24 February 2012. His first official release of 2012 is announced to be love story Jatt and Juliet opposite Neeru Bajwa. Jatt and Juliet is currently under-production, and will release on 22 june 2012.

Diljit Dosanjh is going through a difficult phase of Internet war. The whole incident started last year when Diljit fell on the stage while performing his songs in one event. One of the viewers captured the Incident video and uploaded on the Social Networking site Facebook. Following that a series of comments started on that video both positive as well as negative. Diljit got annoyed with all the negative comments and sung one abusing song for all Facebook fans who posted negatives comments and uploaded the video under the title Facebook de Dakiye on YouTube. After that a real internet war started between Diljit and his fans, Punjabi community from different parts of the world is uploading videos day by day against Diljit. after this incident Diljit officially announce to cancel Urban Pendu Album along with 15 Saal.^[3] But the song 15 Saal is leaked on the YouTube. now Urban Pendu album is also releasing in Aug 2012

 Gippy Grewal (or Rupinder Grewal) is a Punjabi singer and actor. He was born in village Koom Kalan, Ludhiana, Punjab (India) on January 2, 1982. He was enrolled in a Hotel Management course prior to entering the Punjabi music industry.

 

                       Career

Gippy Grewal has carefully developed a diverse and successful musical career since his induction to the world of Bhangra. By his first album called “Chakk Lai” Gippy had proven his extraordinary musical talents. Gippy Grewal has released many solo albums like “Chakk Lai”, “Nasha”, “Phulkari” and “Phulkari 2 Just Hits” Countdowns @ Top Place. And the “Phulkari” song become favorite to every bhangra lover and Punjabi DJ’s across the globe. The “Phulkari” Track became one of the biggest hit of 2004-05.  Gurdas Maan (Punjabi: ਗੁਰਦਾਸ ਮਾਨ) is an Punjabi singer, songwriter, choreographer, and actor. He is considered one of the most notable figures in the world of Punjabi music. He was born in Giddarbaha village of Indian Punjab and gained national attention in 1980 with the song "Dil Da Mamla Hai." Since then, he has gone on to record over 35+ albums and has written over 250+ songs.

 

                       Early life

Maan was formally educated in D.A.V College Malout Punjab. After completing his education there, his parents enrolled him in a further education institute in Patiala. As a keen sports enthusiast Maan was fascinated by the National Institute of Sports in the city; this prompted him to join the N.I.S. and gain a Masters degree in physical education.

He took part in youth festivals organized by universities and won several awards for his singing and acting, always supported by his friends. He competed in many athletic events and won medals including a bronze at the National Championship as well as achieving a black belt in judo

                       Career

 1980s

 In one of his stage plays, he performed a song he had written called "Dil Da Mamla Hai." The play was seen by a producer for Doordarshan Kendra Jalandhar, the producer who thought the song to have potential approached Maan with a proposition for a TV performance of the song to which Maan agreed. When the song was aired on 31 December 1980 it gained national attention and Gurdas Maan became a national figure. The success of the song attracted the attention of HMV who wanted to record and release it. With HMV Maan eventually released his debut album a year later in 1981. When Maan began his career as a solo performer in India, the music industry was dominated by duet artists and he reportedly declined many offers to become part of a duet as he wished to perform and become a successful solo artist. The film that Gurdas Mann starred in "Mamla Garbar Hai" was directed by Hari Dutt.

During his early career he also wrote and directed TV programs such as POP Time for the Doordarshan Network in Delhi.

  1990s and 2000s

Gurdas Maan is often credited with raising Punjabi folk music from a regional level mostly in the Punjab to gain international recognition. His album Apna Punjab won Best Album at the 1998 Asian Pop and Media Awards held in Birmingham. Maan won Best Song for the title track and Best International Artist the same year. In addition to these awards, Maan more recently won three music awards of Best Lyrics ("Kudiye")Best Song ("Heer"), as well as Best Singer of the Year at the ETC Channel Punjabi Music Awards on 6 March 2005.(Ravinder)

 

                       Awards And Honours

 Gurdas Maan received an honorary degree of Doctor of Music from the University of Wolverhampton on 7 Sept 2010.Maan performed at the Royal Albert Hall for two nights in April 2011 as part of his UK tour. This was the first time Maan performed at the Royal Albert Hall, an opportunity that very few artists come across.

On other fronts, Maan has starred in blockbuster Bollywood films and has received numerous awards, including the Jury’s Award, presented to him by the president of India in 2005.

In 2009 he won "Best International Album" at the UK Asian Music Awards for Boot Polishan.In 2007 he won the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer for his song titled "Couplets of Heer" for the movie Waris Shah: Ishq Daa Waaris.

In 2011 PTC Punjabi Film Awards, He won Critics Award for Best Actor in a Movie - Sukhmani. Film 

Gurdas Maan is best known as an actor for his performances in two films: Waris Shah-Ishq Da Waaris (2006), which was nominated as India's selection for the Academy Awards, and Shaheed-E-Mohabbat (1999), the film which tells the real-life story of Boota Singh.

Gurdas appeared in the hit film Shaheed Udham Singh (2000), in which he played the role of Bhagat Singh, a revolutionary, with no prejudices based on religion, caste or creed. As a singer Maan has worked with music directors such as Laxmikant Pyarelal, Bappi Lahiri, Anu Malik, Nadeem Sharvan, Amar Haidipur, Charanjeet Ahuja, and Jaswant Bhanyra.

He starred alongside Juhi Chawla in the epic Des Hoyaa Pardes (2004), an emotional film illustrating the tragedies faced by the people of Punjab in the 1980s. He adopted the role of a son of a well-respected Jatt (bilingual separatist) Gurdev Singh Somal. He falls in love with a high-ranking police officer’s daughter. Before the wedding, the father is murdered by separatists. This tale soon twists in to the inevitable demise of Gurshaan (Gurdas Maan). This movie was based on actual events.

Aside from singing in Punjabi, he is fluent in Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Haryanvi and Rajasthani. As an actor he has performed in Punjabi, Hindi and Tamil movies, but he is best known for his starring role in Waris Shah-Ishq Da Waaris, a depiction of the Punjabi poet Waris Shah during the creation of his epic poem Heer Ranjha, again co-starring Juhi Chawla and Divya Dutta. He made a special appearance in Veer-Zaara with Shahrukh Khan and Preity Zinta.

                       Personal Life

Maan is married to Manjit and has one son Gurikk who has done his schooling at Yadavindra Public School and Mayo College. He also studied at Eton College. His brothers name is Paramjit Bahia

In Kundli, Sonepat, Haryana, India on 20 January 2007 Maan was involved in a car accident in which his Range Rover was hit and severely damaged by a truck. Maan escaped with minor injuries on his face, hands and chest. His driver Ganesh was injured seriously but recovered soon after.

This was the second car accident of two that Gurdas Maan was involved in. The first accident was a head-on collision between Maan's vehicle and a truck on 9 January 2001 at a village near Rupnagar, Punjab. In this accident Maan's driver Tejpal was killed. Maan later admitted that his driver asked him to wear his seat belt minutes before the accident. Maan believes that if it had not been for his driver's advice, he would have been dead as well. Later he wrote and performed a song "Baithi sade naal savari utter gayi" dedicated to his driver, who was also his good friend.

During a radio interview Maan revealed to the host, Gagan Grewal, that he is an avid supporter of Liverpool football club.

He has recorded over 34 albums. Gurdas Maan was formally educated in Malout. After completing his education, his parents moved him to Patiala for further studies. He is of Sikh faith. The city fascinated him especially because it was home to the National Institute of Sports, as Gurdas Maan is a keen sports enthusiast. He joined the N.I.S and gained a Masters Degree in Physical Education.

He took part in youth festivals organized by various universities and won numerous awards for his singing and acting. He competed in many athletic events and won medals including a bronze at the National Championship. He is also a black belt in Judo. In one of his stage play he sang a song which he wrote himself and called "Dil da mamla hai".

The play was seen by a producer of a Jalandhar TV station, who then approached him for a TV recording of his song, which Gurdas reluctantly agreed to. When the song was aired on December 31, 1980 it stormed the nation and Gurdas Maan became a household name. The overwhelming success of the song grabbed the attention of HMV who wanted to record the song and from this came his first album in 1982.
